Yoga Teaching Background:
My name is Bri, and I am a 500-hour registered yoga teacher. I teach Rasa Yoga, an alignment-based yoga style infused with asana, mantra, mudra, meditation, and pranayama. Rasa Yoga was founded by Sianna Sherman, who studied intensively with Pattabhi Jois and BKS Iyengar. I have been teaching yoga for seven years and practicing for about ten years. I currently teach at Shefa Yoga, Grinning Yogi, and on YouTube. I also teach private sessions in addition to a donation-based class in a public park during the summer season.
I have ample experience working with private clients on a daily basis. This is my specialty. I am inspired by the amount of passion yoga has brought to my life. Some of my most influential teachers include Greta Hill, Desiree Rumbaugh, and her partner, Andrew Rivin.
I graduated from my first 200-hour RYT training in 2018. Since then, I’ve taken a second 200-hour training, as well as my 300-hour RYT training with Greta Hill. Upon graduating my 300-hour, I assisted my teacher with the 200-hour training program in 2023 and again in 2024. I am first and foremost a student, and you can expect me to be in some sort of training every so often to continue learning the richness that the teaching of yoga has to offer.
I have focused most of my work on teaching students 1:1 as well as group classes at various corporations. My greatest passion is bringing yoga to every person that wants to learn. I love working with beginners and people that don’t consider themselves “yogis.” I truly cherish the opportunity to show newer students that there is a space for them on a mat, and that once they have created that space, they have a practice to return to again and again. When you have a consistent yoga practice, a yoga mat becomes much more than a mat; it becomes a sacred space to call home at any moment of your life.
You can expect a vinyasa-style class with healthy, safe biomechanics, an uplifting flow, and soothing music to help you settle into the present moment during your practice.
My Yoga Story
I came to yoga at age 20, yearning for a way to silence my busy thoughts during a difficult time in my life. I was taken back by how much yoga was able to shift my state of mind into a calmer, more connected space. The more I practiced, the more I craved being on my mat.
Two years later, I signed up for my first 200-hour yoga teacher training, and that’s when things began to truly shift. I was always geared towards the faster-paced vinyasa yoga classes, getting the best workout in, burning the most calories, and getting to maximum sensation in the body. However, my second training brought some injuries to the surface and I realized I wasn’t as invincible as one feels at 22. Pushing to the limit all the time wasn't helping me, and I needed some type of shift. This is why I love yoga.
Once pain started to arise repeatedly, I decided to take a different approach to my practice, weaving different styles of yoga into my practice, and falling deeply in love with yoga therapeutics during my injury recovery period. Myofascial release became my go-to practice during that time. Since then, I’ve taken even deeper care for my students. Ultimately, my goal is to help students feel more comfortable in their bodies.
Injury or no injury, I want to help my students find optimal health and healing for the body and mind. My goal is to facilitate a practice where my students are able to become connected to their centers and at ease with their minds, hearts, and souls. I still enjoy teaching and practicing vinyasa style classes, but with closer attention to detail and alignment so the body can be brought to a place of healing.
Interests and Hobbies:
I am deeply connected to nature. I love being outside and spending my time out in the woods. Hiking was my favorite hobby before I found yoga. I also love top-rope climbing and bouldering. I find that climbing is the perfect cross-train to a yoga practice. In the summer, when I am not teaching, you can typically find me in my backyard reading a book, or in the mountains setting up my campsite for the night. Once the sunshine goes into hiding for the winter months, you will still find me up in the mountains, snowboarding and drinking hot tea by a warm fire. I also love traveling to different countries and immersing myself in the cultures of each destination. What I have learned most about myself in my 20s thus far is that I thrive the most in community. I believe my most authentic self shines through when I am in community and creating sacred connection with others.
